Commission work is challenging and fun. I quite enjoy the "challenging" aspect because commissions tend to take me out of my comfort zone. I like to think that I have developed a certain style in my abstract and representational work however when working on a commission piece, I must also take into consideration what the client envisions. This often involves a process where "artistic freedom" may have to be reigned in quite a bit. Recently,
I received a request to do a sculpture of the Denver Broncos Logo (photo attached). This also involved some lettering and extra mounting work. Many other things also come into play with this type of project...weight, finish, packing, international shipping, etc. Another piece involved integrating a collection of bronze thumbs into a large piece of limestone (refer to Sculpture Garden to see a photo of "Proof Of Life), which now sits in a garden here at Blue Mountain. I seem to be receiving more of this type of work along with restorations and repairs and I certainly hope that it continues....
